Peel me a grape

You must love talent. How inspirational it is to hear Blossom Dearie’s voice sound so rich and full. What a testament that is timeless talent.

I love this song. This is one of my favorite old standards. STANDARD. “Traditional pop or classic pop or standards music denotes, in general, Western (and particularly American) popular music that either wholly predates the advent of rock and roll in the mid-1950s, or to any popular music which exists concurrently to rock and roll but originated in a time before the appearance of rock and roll, and its offshoots, as the dominant commercial music of the United States and Western culture.”

The lyrics are simply priceless. The heroine of the tune is quite demanding. The picture is set... scene opens to a svelte parisian type a la Audrey Hepburn. She’s lounging in the parlor on her settee whilst Her tiny pomeranian Jacques sits on his oversized feather bed pillow nibbling at his bone. In the background you can hear her record player sounding….all of a sudden she reaches into her bowl… How could it be “she thinks to herself. Empty again!” Stefan! Why this just won't do she thinks to herself.  Where is he?

Like magic. Her beau steps into frame. The lights dim and the music begins. … It’s just now that we notice Our  Femme Fatale is wrapped in only her towel. Hair tousled, her skin still moist from her bath.

What a sight. Stefan can see the imprint of her erect nipples poking their way through that flimsy excuse for a towel but then he looks into her eyes and knows that she has summoned him for a reason. PEEL ME A GRAPE! She beckons!
